The HP LaserJet Pro M15w is a decent black and white laser printer. It uses a single black toner cartridge, which has a very high page yield. It doesn't have a scanner, but the compact size makes it a better option if you're tight on space. It only has a decent printing speed overall, which is surprising for a laser printer, but if you're only printing a single page, it's able to print it out very quickly.

The HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 is great for small or home office use. This printer yields a lot of pages before its ink cartridges need to be replaced, and there are also higher-yield cartridges available if you need them. It gets black text documents out at a passable speed, and its color printing speed is slower, but you can still get long reports out in a couple of minutes at most. There's also an automatic document feeder that supports automatic single-pass duplex scanning, which is handy for processing a lot of pages.

Two years of unlimited ink, excellent print quality, a strong feature set, high capacity, and more make the EcoTank Pro ET-5880 a compelling value for small businesses and workgroups, topped only by Epson's slightly cheaper ET-5850.

The Canon PIXMA MG3620 is good for family use. It produces sharp-looking documents and detailed photos, and while its low page yield means you have to replace the cartridges often, the overall cost-per-print remains low, as the cartridges are cheap. It has a high-resolution flatbed scanner with hinges that can extend to scan thicker items but lacks an automatic feeder to process multi-page documents. The scan quality is excellent, although colors come out a little washed out, so you may need to do some retouches if you're digitizing photos.

Canon's Color imageClass MF644Cdw laser printer delivers high-quality output at relatively fast speeds, making it a good choice for low-volume print and copy applications.

The Canon Color imageClass MF741Cdw churns out good-looking output at a respectable clip, though an auto-duplexing ADF would round out its otherwise strong feature set nicely.

Lexmark's entry-level C3326dw color laser printer produces quality output, is relatively fast, and supports most operating systems and platforms. Aside from the high running costs typical of lower-end laser machines, there's little to complain about.

The Xerox B215 is a fast monochrome laser all-in-one printer with good output quality and low running costs for its class.

The Canon Pixma G5020 is a single-function bulk-ink printer that produces excellent output, is packed with handy productivity features, and delivers very low running costs.

The Epson EcoTank ET-2760 is an entry-level inkjet all-in-one printer that produces excellent output and costs little to use over time, making it a solid addition to low-volume small offices.
