The Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 3 is great for outdoor use. It's rated IP67 for dust and water resistance, meaning it's fully dust-tight and immersible in up to a meter of water for 30 minutes, so you can take it outside without worrying about getting it wet. It's even advertised to float in water, so you can float your music around with you while you relax in the pool. The manufacturer advises rinsing the speaker with fresh water whenever you expose it to salty or chlorinated water. It's incredibly portable with a built-in hook you can use to attach it to your bags when you're on the go. Also, while it doesn't get incredibly loud, there isn't much compression at max volume, so your favorite songs sound clean and clear when you blast the speaker. Its long-lasting battery life of over 22 hours makes it great for long listening sessions spent outdoors.

The JBL Charge 5 is alright for music. Thanks to its balanced mids, it reproduces voices and lead instruments with clarity and detail. As a result, it's suitable for listening to lots of different genres, and its graphic EQ allows you to switch up its sound to your liking. That said, as a smaller speaker, it doesn't bring a lot of rumble in the low-bass.

The XSound Go from Tribit is a good speaker, but it doesn’t have the kind of dynamic sound that would make us really recommend it. The Tribit XSound Go is a small speaker that sounds much better than it should for its size.

The Ultimate Ears MEGABLAST is amazing for voice assistants. It has built-in Alexa support over a Wi-Fi connection, which you can activate using your voice. Alexa can hear you clearly even if you aren't very close to the speaker, and it does a decent job understanding you in a noisy setting. You can also mute the microphone by pressing the Bluetooth and the volume down buttons at the same time.

The Marshall Emberton is fair for music. This stereo speaker has an amazing soundstage, so you feel immersed in your favorite songs. Its balanced mid and treble ranges help reproduce clear and present vocals and lead instruments, and there's a touch of extra boom and warmth in the bass range. Unfortunately, like most small speakers, it lacks a thumpy and rumbling low-bass. There aren't any sound customization options, and it doesn't get very loud, either.

The JBL Boombox 3 is good for music. It has a fairly balanced sound profile suitable for listening to a wide variety of audio content. Its balanced mid-range ensures vocals and lead instruments sound clean and present in the mix, though higher-pitched voices and sibilants like S and T sound a bit harsh at times. There's also a bit of warmth in the bass range that adds extra boom to the mix. You can customize its sound profile to your liking thanks to the graphic EQ featured in its companion app. It also gets pretty loud with little compression at max volume, so you can blast your favorite music without affecting your audio quality.

The Bose Home Speaker 500 is incredible for voice assistant support. It has Alexa and Google Assistant built-in, which you can activate using your voice. It can hear you clearly even if you're in a noisy setting or far away. You can also mute the microphone, which is handy.

The JBL Xtreme 2 is decent for outdoor use. It has an IPX7 rating for water resistance, although we don't currently test for this. Thanks to its lightweight build and carrying strap, it's easy to take with you on-the-go. It also has an exceptionally long battery life, lasting almost fifteen hours on a single charge. While it can get quite loud, there's some compression present at max volume.

The Ultimate Ears HYPERBOOM is good for music. This speaker has balanced mid and treble ranges that can reproduce clear and accurate vocals and lead instruments. It gets really loud without a lot of compression, too. While it struggles to reproduce low-bass, the Ultimate Ears app offers a full graphic EQ and presets to help you customize its sound to your liking.
