With the Versa 2, Fitbit proves that less is more. The fitness brand has taken everything that made the original a compelling budget smartwatch, improves on those features, adds a somewhat fiddly voice assistant, and spits out a near-perfect fitness tracker that comes with some smartwatch perks. It’s one of the best fitness watches from Fitbit but the lack of a GPS chip means you’ll need to carry your phone wherever you go.

The Fitbit Versa 2 takes everything we like about the original smartwatch and adds an always-on AMOLED display, a microphone for Amazon Alexa, and Fitbit Pay.

The Fitbit Versa 2 has been eclipsed by the Fitbit Versa 3, but was once the company's best fitness smartwatch for the money and is still worthwhile on sale.

The Fitbit Versa 2 covers all the aspects of a health and fitness watch, measuring steps, heart rate, distance, calories burned, floors climbed, active minutes, hourly activity, and sleep. It offers on-screen notifications from your phone, silent alarms, cardio fitness levels, workout and other exercise modes such as swimming and weights, female health tracking, and wellness features, plus music controls and even Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant. Note that the new Versa 3 is now available. This adds a built-in GPS and (coming soon) Google Assistant to the feature set. The Versa 2 remains a great fitness smartwatch, but if you are looking for the built-in GPS, then you should consider the Versa 3.

The Fitbit Versa 2 is a solid smartwatch-come-fitness tracker that will meet most casual or newbie gym goers' needs. However, the lack of an in-built GPS and a lacking developer app store will stop it appealing to serious athletes and dedicated smartwatch users.
