The MP600 GS is your standard mid-range PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, competent but mostly without stand-out performance. It does offer up to 2TB for your files, and it has a more consistent pSLC caching curve, which may have niche appeal. It’s also a little late to the game, which isn’t a problem if the price comes down a bit.

The Acer Predator GM3500 is a safe, if unexciting, PCIe 3.0 SSD for budget builds or cheap upgrades. But without a price drop, it faces stiff competition from drives with newer hardware. And capacity tops out at just 1TB.

The HP FX900 Pro is a solid drive, especially at 2TB, that is unfortunately positioned within a competitive market. It’s an interesting alternative for someone that wants a drive of this caliber, but there’s not much to set it apart.

Priced below most high-performance gaming SSDs, the Silicon Power XS70 trails them in performance tests. On the plus side, it fits into a PS5 even with its attached heatsink and offers capacities up to 4TB.

Acer’s PCIe 3.0 NVMe FA100 SSD was designed to deliver speed and efficiency at low price points. It's not bad from that perspective, but lagged the competition in most of our performance tests.

The Spatium M470, part of MSI's entry into the M.2 solid-state drive market, is a solid performer with an excellent durability rating.

The Samsung 980 is affordable, but it’s no barn-burning Samsung 980 Pro. The 980’s reliance on system DRAM as its primary cache results in significantly slower random file performance. If your needs are simple this may not be an issue, but other drives don’t have this limitation.
