The Quarry has blockbuster aspirations but never quite manages to rise above B-movie cheese. However, it’s still a well-structured interactive horror experience with a cast of mostly likable characters and a couple of highly effective twists.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an action game from Apex Legends studio Respawn, that combines elements from Zelda, Uncharted, God of War, Tomb Raider, and more into a cohesive Star Wars experience.

A Plague Tale: Requiem, a sequel to 2019’s A Plague Tale: Innocence, is a stealth action game that launches on the PS5, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch on October 18th.

Lego 2K Drive is a thrilling and creative open-world racing game for all ages that stops just short of reaching its full potential.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty offers a cool morale system, leaping attacks, and fresh spins on magic and character customization, though stilted storytelling and underwhelming stage designs prevent it from reaching the heights of other Nioh games.

On the pitch, FIFA 22 is the best the series has ever been, but offline modes have again been neglected in favor of FIFA Ultimate Team.

Immortals Fenyx Rising gives us a gorgeous world to explore, filled with mythological beasts, deities, and powers to wield. Its combat is satisfying, with plenty of choice in upgrades, while its central characters, comedic tone, and storytelling are a real highlight. Seeing Fenyx’s saga through to the end, with amusing commentary from Zeus, Prometheus, and other gods along the way, is a treat. Its Achilles Heel, though, is that so much of the puzzle gameplay feels like going through the motions instead of clever challenges. In the end, I wish Immortals Fenyx Rising had tried to soar just a little higher on the wings of ambition.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is a dark, grisly game for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC about siblings trying to survive the horror of medieval-era France.

Lords of the Fallen is a little bland, but it's a perfectly good distraction with a bit more bite than most modern action/RPGs.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon delivers exciting mech action and superb customization options, albeit with some annoying difficulty spikes and relatively drab maps.
