Oculus Go marks a new era for VR, one in which anyone can simply slip on a headset and dive into virtual realms. Though not perfect, it offers a comfortable fit, solid build, excellent visuals and the promise of more great content to come. For the price, Oculus Go gives it's tethered older brother Oculus Rift a run for its money.

The Oculus Go is a virtual reality headset that stands on its own — but it still has the basic shortcomings of phone-based VR.

Comfortable, convenient, wireless, and affordable, the standalone Oculus Go represents a big step forward in consumer VR. There isn’t a single killer app or must-have game just yet, but there are enough offerings in the Oculus Store to keep the VR consumers, both gamers and non-gamers, plenty busy.

The Oculus Go has the potential to really show the masses the potential of VR, and despite all the tech being crammed into the headset, it’s still sleek, lightweight and comfortable to wear over long periods. The display is impressive too, boasting a fast-switch LCD display that almost completely removes SDE, an issue still prevalent in high-end VR headsets.

The first time you try virtual reality, it’s hard not to be blown away by the sense of immersion, the feeling that for the first time you’re actually inhabiting a virtual world rather than just observing it from the other side of a screen.
