Microsoft’s new Surface Pro 7 is a refinement over previous models. It has a new quick resume feature, fast charging, and finally the addition of USB-C. But it’s all in a very familiar design that’s in need of some love.

The Surface Pro 7 is arguably the best windows tablet money can buy, it’s just not that big a leap over the Surface Pro 6.

If you’re going to get the use out of the portability and flexible nature of the 2-in-1, the Surface Pro 7 is well worth considering, especially with the upgrades on offer compared to the Pro 6, but there are more powerful laptops at a similar price if processing power is key.

We expected a bit more in advancements from the seventh Surface Pro tablet. USB-C is nice, but for a device at this price, it should have Thunderbolt 3. Plus, the display bezels are awfully thick for a tablet in 2019. The Surface Pro 7 isn’t big enough of a leap over the Pro 6 for us to recommend it.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 improves on its predecessor with stronger performance and better ports, but its battery life is disappointing.

The Intel Core i7-equipped Surface Pro 7 is designed for power users who need that extra little bit of performance, especially when it comes to graphics power.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 feels more like a Surface Pro 6.5 than an actual new product. The only significant changes are the addition of a USB-C input and a move to Intel’s newer 10th-gen family of laptop CPUs. However, it remains a solid convertible and great choice for those looking for a flexible machine that works equally well as an office laptop as it does as a personal tablet.
