God of War

The latest entry in the God of War series feels older and wiser, and is fun as hell to play.

The latest God of War on PlayStation 4 reimagines series icon Kratos in a world of Norse mythology, and it might just be the best game in the series.

I expected great action from God of War, and it delivers that handily. But I didn’t expect it to be a thrilling journey in which every aspect of it complements the others to form what is nothing short of a masterpiece. It’s a game in which Kratos, a previously one-note character, becomes a complex father, warrior, and monster, embattled both on the field and within his own heart about how to treat his son; one in which the world opens up and shifts, offering rewards in both gameplay and knowledge of its lore that I treasured with each accomplishment. The obvious care that went into crafting its world, characters, and gameplay delivers by far the most stirring and memorable game in the series.

Compelling storytelling meets excellent game mechanics in this classic PlayStation title.

God of War ticks all the boxes; it looks stunning, combat is satisfying, offers an emotionally gripping campaign and a variety of things to do once you’ve completed the main story. While some fans of the series may be worried about the overhaul of the franchise, we think it was a great idea and we really can’t wait for the next in the series – whenever that might be.

The new God of War game has come with all the bell and whistles associated with games in the series. Reviews have been exceedingly glowing, and the game currently ranks second on Metacritic. Sadly, like all other God of War games, it's a PlayStation exclusive.

If you're not yet sold, you likely never will be. Attempting to summarize God of War in this little space also feels like it'd be an injustice, so I'll not even bother trying anymore.
