Dell G3223Q

Though the Dell G3223Q doesn’t beat the competition on color volume or contrast, it is one of the quickest 4K 144 Hz monitors I’ve tested. If you place a high priority on gaming performance, give it strong consideration.

The Dell G3223Q is excellent for gaming. It has a high 144Hz refresh rate with a 4k resolution and HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, meaning you can play high-frame-rate games from consoles or a PC without issue. It also has a quick response time across its entire refresh rate range, and there's VRR support to reduce screen tearing. Sadly, it isn't good for dark room gaming because it has a low contrast that makes blacks look gray, and even if it has a local dimming feature, it performs terribly and only turns on with HDR games.

Dell’s G3223Q joins the other 32-inch 4K monitors in offering a compromised experience. It has good SDR image quality, superb motion clarity, and is compatible with the latest game consoles thanks to HDMI 2.1 support and a refresh rate up to 144Hz. But disappointing HDR performance and weak options for creators hold it back from a ringing endorsement.

The Dell G3223Q won’t leave you disappointed if you’ve never seen a 4K display running at 144Hz before, especially with bright and color-rich HDR content. But the poor contrast of its IPS panel keeps it from really blowing us away.
