With enough grunt to produce respectable frame rates at 2560 x 1600 resolution, and a gorgeous and smooth 16-inch Mini LED display, the 2023 ROG Zephyrus M16 raises the bar yet again for Zephyrus fans.

Asus’ ROG Zephyrus M16 is a good laptop marred by limited specs and a price that’s too high for them. It’s powered by Intel’s Core i9-11900H and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3060, and its performance and battery life don’t hold up to other products at this price point.

Asus returns with another high-end 16-inch laptop aimed at creators that bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor. This model brings some improved hardware to the table but not much else.

As a multi-purpose laptop that's fairly portable and lightweight on one side, but at the same time capable of dealing with any of the most demanding workloads and games available today, the ROG Zephyrus M16 GU604VY is hardly matched by any other laptop out there. That's especially the case for this i9 + RTX 4090 + miniLED display variant reviewed here, but this unusual mix of features comes with a hefty, hefty price tag.

The premium portable format, the versatile 16-inch 16:10 display, and the powerful specs for this segment are the main selling points of the 2022 Zephyrus M16 series, especially with the move towards the 12th gen Intel hardware and the higher-power RTX 3000Ti GPUs helped out by a MUX. Battery life still isn't amazing with Intel Alder Lake, even if improved from the 2021 generation, and potential buyers would still have to accept the quirky IO and thermal design of this series, as well as the fact that many configurations are still only available with 16 GB of dual-channel memory, without a real option for 32 GB.
