Alienware x17 R2
With new top-end Intel and Nvidia components wrapped in arguably the nicest-looking gaming laptop shell on the market, the Alienware x17 R2 is impressive, and its mechanical keyboard option feels great. But MSI's competing GE76 Raider performed a bit better on our gaming tests and has a bigger battery.

The latest muscle components boost Alienware's already formidable x17, but the second-gen rev of this costly gaming laptop doesn't stand out for its power or portability.

The Alienware x17 R2 is a powerful laptop that doesn’t cost quite as much as its high-end competitors – but it’s still going to cost you. If you’re in need of a laptop that provides desktop-like performance, then the x17 R2 makes a lot of sense. You don’t have to max out the specs in order to get reliable performance from the R2, either. Play around with the different configurations until you find something that fits your budget and meets your requirements.
