The Stealth Pro is a trim little Max-Q laptop with an attractive design and decent performance, though it can't top other models in the growing Max-Q market in any major way.

The 2022 Predator Helios 300 is once more a competitive performance/gaming notebook in the mid-tier segment. Acer updated the design, the screen options, the inputs, and the ports, added a 90 Wh battery and a beefed-up thermal module, as well as significantly more powerful specs than on the previous generations. As a result, this laptop is more competent in demanding loads and games, and lasts for longer with daily use on battery. At the same time, the 2022 Helios 300 runs warmer and noisier, still lacks in audio quality, and is no longer as competitively priced as it used to be.

While the Acer Predator Helios 300 laptop has strong game performance, it’s held back by loud fans and a frustrating keyboard.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is a good gaming laptop if you’re after a machine that’ll be plugged-in 95 percent of the time. It gets you good performance per pound with elements of gamer flashiness that appeals to some. The screen is what secures it a fairly good score, though, with solid colour and decent contrast a close enough match for just about any non-wide-gamut display. Games look good on the Acer Predator Helios 300. Poor battery life and an uncomfortable trackpad mean it’s not as appealing away from the charger, without a mouse plugged-in, though.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 offers a solid gaming performance for its price. However, the manufacturer has squandered some important points with the sound system, which is not suitable for a gaming laptop.

The Acer Helios 300 is a decent option for those seeking a mid-range gaming laptop with a high refresh rate screen.

Glasses-free 3D can be a cool party trick, but, with its terrible battery life and eye-watering price, the Acer Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition is simply impossible to recommend.

Despite two glaring flaws, namely the cooling system and the speakers, this budget gaming laptop packs a punch. If you’re serious about gaming but have a limited budget, you’re going to want to pick this one up.

There’s plenty to like about the Acer Predator Helios 300: the GTX 1660 Ti is a great gaming chip, it’s paired with a solid specification elsewhere, and the screen is excellent. The exterior looks good, and it isn't bad ergonomically. Other machines are slimmer, lighter and cheaper, but the Acer delivers an effective and well-balanced gaming experience at a decent price.

The Acer Predator Helios 300 is a surprising slab of a laptop. With its aggressive name, gaming brand and huge screen, you’d be forgiven for believing it was one of the market’s bank-busting gaming systems – but this unit costs a reasonable £1300.
