Roccat Syn Pro Air

The Roccat Syn Pro Air sounds good on paper, but it doesn't deliver. A lightweight design and great sound are undercut by its all-plastic construction, poor software and missing options. It's available for slightly cheaper now that it’s been out for a while, but with a $150 MSRP, there are better choices.

The Roccat Syn Pro Air wireless gaming headset offers good sound and a quality mic, but it’s frustrating to use, and far too expensive for what it does.

The Syn Pro Air looks good and sounds good, but... it isn’t that good. Between a loose frame that won’t reliably stay on your head, pairing issues, and a configuration app that isn’t operational yet, it falters in a lot of ways that most premium headsets don’t. Meanwhile, I can’t point to any specific feature that works significantly better than the rest of the pack to make up for those shortcomings. Even if Roccat fixes its software more quickly than expected, the Syn Pro Air is slick on the surface, but lacks substance.

While the Roccat Syn Pro Air looks fantastic, has a great soundstage and comes with a decent mic, the manufacturer seems to have forgotten about the rest of the most basic bits – namely, sound quality and software support – which leaves us feeling disappointed.
